Harald Kreutzberg [1902–1968] was one of the most notable protagonists of German Expressionist Dance in the 1920s and 1930s. Besides being acknowledged as ‘the best dancer since Nijinsky’, he was a pioneering queer artist who played a very delicate game in his exploration of androgyny and homosexuality under the Third Reich, while continuously blurring the boundaries of gender throughout his life and career.
With EL CIRCULO ETERNO DanceLab Berlin has rediscovered Kreutzberg’s great inventions and brings them into a contemporary language: »Understanding the past means taking a look into the future.«
